AWARDS FOR DAME AGATHA'S SHORTS

THE AGATHA AWARD

Named in honor of Agatha Christie, the Agatha Awards Established in 1989, Malice Domestic® is an annual mystery fan convention outside Washington, D.C., saluting the traditional mystery—books best typified by the works of Agatha Christie.

The genre is loosely defined as mysteries which contain no explicit sex or excessive gore or violence. The award was given for materials first published in the United States by a living author during the calendar year 2009 (January 1-December 31), either in hardcover, as a paperback original, or e-published by an e-publishing firm.

The Agatha Awards honor the "traditional mystery." That is to say, books best typified by the works of Agatha Christie as well as others.

THE ANTHONY AWARD

The Anthony Awards are literary awards for mystery writers presented at the Bouchercon World Mystery Convention since 1986. The awards are named for Anthony Boucher (1911-1968), one of the founders of the Mystery Writers of America.

The Anthony Awards are among the most prestigious awards in the world of mystery writers and have helped boost the careers of numerous recipients. This year they will be presented at Bouchercon By the Bay from October 14-17, 2010.
